Thankful Thursday – Magazines and Cookbooks

I must say that living away from home is hard, and although I am thankful for my education it still is a constant struggle for me to get used to living so far that I only see my parent about every six weeks or so. I don’t even know when I will see them next. It’s all a part of growing up, I guess, but growing pains come with that.

The last two weeks have been good to me. Although I haven’t seen my parents, I do talk to them once a week on the phone and we stay in touch through twitter and my blog. One great thing they did for me was send me up some magazines that came for me and my hometowns newspaper. That really made my day because I kind of felt like I was at home, even just in spirit, and I knew they were thinking of me.

I have already found, even though I have only been blogging for a month, that great friends come from sharing your life online. Donita, one of my main commenters, was kind enough to send me a cookbook two weeks ago because she knows I love to cook. It made me so happy to open the package, and it even had a special note inside! I now see why people make friends by blogging. I really can’t wait to see what other friends I will make as I continue sharing my life, thoughts, and daily routines on my blog. So, I guess today I am thankful for technology, friends, family, and giving. What are you thankful for?

A few things from home can warm you up inside. That was really nice and what a wonderful surprise makes you want to go get the mail! How do you like the recipes in the cook book she sent you? Got any recipes you are going to try out?
Isn’t it amazing how one act can make such a difference in your life? Love it!

;-) so glad you liked it Sarah!! I haven’t been to your blog for a couple of weeks, SORRY. My daughter had major surgery *she is only 29* and I watched her two sweet babes 3 and 1 1/2 for a week and a half. While still there watching the babies and taking care of Deena, we received a call that my husbands father passed away. He had not been well for about five years, yet is was a bit of a shock. We had the memorial on monday, many family and friends were here. He is well known all over the Pacific Northwest, he was a minister and had many connections and friends. I truly have to say, his memorial was the greatest one *if memorials can be great* that we have ever sat in. His children are all musically inclined and sang I’ll fly away. His grandson is a worship pastor and sang a song that touched many. We are thankful that we know dad is in heaven and rejoicing on the streets of gold.
Have a wonderful week Sarah. I have been praying for you, you had posted on FB of your recent struggles, keeping you in prayers. It does get lonely without family near, I have been there for 16 years. Hope you find a great CLOSE christian friend that will fill the void.
    All my love,
    Donita
