Dreamer

My name is Sarah and I am a junior in college. I started this blog because my life felt a little incomplete. You see, am I a very creative person and a dreamer at heart. I like trying new things and doing crafty things make me happy. I felt that I did not have anyone to share my love of crafts and home-related things with, so I started a blog to make friends and share what I love most in life. I encourage you to take a look around and get and give inspiration, if you are so willing. I love learning new things and meeting new people, so thank you for visiting!

These are a few of my favorite things…

  • Cooking/Eating Ever since I was little, my family, friends, and I have bonded through eating and cooking. Now that I am older, my boyfriend and I share a huge passion for all things food-related. We love going to new restaurants and trying out exotic dishes. We also love to buy cookbooks and search online for recipes to try out together. It is hard to do this on a college-student’s budget, but we do the best we can. I am trying to eat healthier and exercise, so I’ve been trying a lot of healthier foods and learning that food can taste good and be good for you! Who knew? Food is definitely a big part of my life and something I cannot wait to share with my children in the future.
  • Crafting I have always been an imaginative person. I love to buy things that are unique, but what I love even more is to create things that are unique. If I can recreate something myself, I would rather do that than buy it, because it gives me comfort knowing that my own hands created it and not someone else’s. I love taking what’s in my mind and using it to create something new. I am not a good artist, though, when it comes to drawing and that sort of thing, but I love making things and find uses for things that are unconventional.
  • Writing I have been drawn to books and poetry since a very young age. I started actively writing lyrics, stories, and poetry when I was a sophomore in high school. Lately, I really haven’t written much because I have been focused on other things. Writing, however, is still something I think about a lot which is almost as good as actually doing it. I want to be an English teacher because I think writing is the one place where you can’t really hide from yourself and who you are. It’s an activity that makes you honest and raw, and also helps to organize your thoughts. It’s a very hard task because of the raw reflective quality it has, but it is something that is crucial for me to look within myself and figure out what parts of me are happy and which are not and what I can do about that.

  • Decorating The TV channel I watch the most, even more than Food Network, is HGTV. I am falling more in love with architecture and design every day, and I have my parents to thank for that. My dad is a carpenter and he has done remodeling and actually built two of the houses I have lived in during my life. Growing up, I loved to play ‘house,’ but I was lucky enough to use actual houses to play in. My dad would finish building a house and would unlock the door and let me in. It was amazing! My mom has also contributed because she has really loved decorating since she was my age and has done some great work in all of her homes. I simply cannot wait until I can go house-hunting and buy a house that needs some work. I really want to put my mark on everywhere I live and get my hands dirty in the process. I want to be involved in remodeling and also find cheap ways to make a house look beautiful. Right now this is only a dream since I am broke, but one day it will be a reality! • The Little Things In Life I have lived out in the middle of nowhere on a farm for most of my life. If you have never lived on a farm or do not know anyone who lives on a farm, you may not understand the true meaning of having nothing to do. Having nothing but nature around you forces you to find something to do and helps you to appreciate the little things there are to cherish around you. I love the country life with the quiet nights (and days), the pure and honest nature enveloping you the second you step outside, and the unexpected views of different creatures or plants that cross your path from time to time. Moving to the Twin Cities has made me really realize how attached I am to the peaceful life found in rural Minnesota. I don’t get to see the sun set or rise in the cities, I can’t see the stars at night, I don’t hear the crickets as I’m falling asleep just outside my window. Once I graduate, I plan on living somewhere where I still get many of the benefits of living in a small community but preferably somewhere close to many fun things to do.
